A book by Jon Dea · Cognitive Publishing

Everything can keep moving. The reason can still go missing.

The Intent Gap explores what happens when the course we follow loses contact with why it matters. The Personal Edition is a prototype for a reader-led reflection alongside the book.

The distinction

Movement, destination, and reason are not the same thing.

Work can continue. A goal can stay clear. The question of why that goal still matters may need to be asked again.

01 / DOING

The course

What keeps happening: the work, choices, and commitments that make up a direction in practice.

02 / GOAL

The destination

A result can help give action shape. It can also become easier to follow than the reason it was meant to serve.

03 / REASON

What matters

A reason remains something a person can examine, affirm, revise, suspend, or refuse.

The Personal Edition

A reader’s account stays the reader’s.

The planned Personal Edition is a private reflective experience alongside the book. It is intended to help a reader examine what they do, what they believe it is for, and what changed.

Any map is a draft for the reader to correct or reject. The experience will not decide what a person should value or do.

See the current scope

How it works

Room to pause, revise, and leave a question open.

The experience is being designed around the reader’s judgement, not a score or a fixed path to a conclusion.

Choose the question

Begin with a situation or course the reader wants to examine. “I don’t know” is a valid start.

Look at what changed

Consider the stated reason, the goals that represent it, and the consequences that may ask for new judgement.

Keep or refuse the map

A map is provisional. The reader may edit, reject, export, or delete it.
